JOIN THE FIGHT
On the 29th of July, we march together to occupy the streets of the city of Turin and make our thousand plus voices heard by all.
After two years of pandemic, social distancing and isolation, we feel strongly the need to come together, get to know and understand each other, occupy our space and take our struggle to the streets again.
This time in a decidedly unprecedented gathering, in terms of geographic origins and social contexts: for the first time, the city of Turin will see activists from all over Europe and different parts of the world coming together. An important occasion, which will grant us the space and visibility to welcome those people from countries that are both exploited and rarely listened to; countries which already suffer the heaviest effects of the climate crisis and as a result give purpose to local and European experiences of resistance and struggle.
The climate crisis with all its dramatic manifestations, such as droughts, the extreme temperatures we are experiencing these days, and the rising cost of living are all increasingly developing into a planetary crisis impacting on the ecological, social, and economic spheres of our world.
The unemployment rate and inflation continue to rise; the number of people below the absolute poverty line increases exponentially; state welfare-related services and social and civil rights are lost, while more and more multinationals, financial groups and large fossil energy, mining and armaments companies get richer and richer, speculating on a crisis they themselves caused and passing the economic and social costs onto the population.
Governments engage in armed conflicts, which the population pays for in lives or, when not directly affected by the conflict, in cost of living rises and economic instability, in a tightening grip of institutional violence that tries to silence and isolate those who take a stand against these wicked and murderous choices.
Conflict, driven by colonialist and imperialist ideology, weaponizing energy, that serves greater economic interests; making choices that have nothing to do with us, the people, and that are imposed from on high, falling on our lives and our lands, increasingly put at the service, through military occupation and expropriation, for the construction of military bases and armaments. Lands that are exploited and forcibly taken away from the population to build large works for the extraction and transportation of energy sources, large infrastructures and logistics hubs for the movement of goods. Lands impoverished, polluted, burned, and transformed beyond recognition.
Lands on a planet where the Global South supports the wealth of the North, a wealth, becoming increasingly precarious, a wealth not for the many, but belonging only to the few.
After years of pressure and demands on governments and multinationals, nothing has been done. No country has committed itself to reducing CO2 emissions to zero; on the contrary, the global trend shows how there is an accelerated disengagement in this regard. In addition to the above, this direction is made evident with the restarting of coal plants, increased investment in fossil fuels, and disengagement from the Paris treaties.
The only way that governments and industrial lobbies are addressing the climate crisis is through falsehoods and subterfuge: the instrumentalization of information and greenwashing, designed to exploit different groups of consumers concerned about the climate crisis through the sale of ostensibly sustainable products and services.
The climate crisis is a social, economic, migratory and ecological crisis caused by a system of greedy exploitation of a land and its people.
If three years ago, we thought that we had to act quickly, today we realize that the passage of that time has accelerated exponentially: the global pandemic, the onset of war, the flare-up of many other conflicts, global temperatures averaging +4 °C higher than seasonal averages, more frequent droughts and growing poverty has made more urgent our necessity to seize this moment, to grasp the nettle of climate change and act immediately.
And so, it is to the four corners of this world that we turn, and to the people who inhabit them, near and far, to come together, to begin our journey, mark our time and build together a just future, our future.

Il 29 luglio ci mettiamo in cammino insieme, in corteo per occupare le strade della città di Torino e far sentire le nostre mille e più voci a tutte e tutti.
Dopo due anni di pandemia, distanziamento sociale ed isolamento sentiamo forte la necessità di riunirci, conoscerci e confrontarci, prendere spazio e portare la nostra lotta nuovamente in strada.
Questa volta con una partecipazione decisamente inedita per provenienze geografiche e contesti sociali: per la prima volta la città di Torino vedrà riunite attiviste e attivisti provenienti da tutta Europa e da diverse parti del mondo. Un’occasione cruciale, grazie a cui dare spazio e visibilità a quelle persone provenienti da paesi inascoltati e sfruttati che maggiormente e già allo stato attuale subiscono gli effetti più pesanti della crisi climatica e grazie a cui valorizzare le esperienze di resistenza e lotta locali ed europee.
La crisi climatica con tutte le sue drammatiche manifestazioni, quali la siccità, le temperature estreme di questi giorni e il carovita si configura sempre più come una crisi planetaria con effetti ecologici, sociali ed economici altamente impattanti.
Il tasso di disoccupazione e l’inflazione continuano a crescere, aumenta esponenzialmente il numero di persone al di sotto della soglia di povertà assoluta, diminuiscono i servizi legati al welfare statale e i diritti sociali e civili, mentre si arricchiscono sempre più multinazionali, gruppi finanziari e grandi aziende dell’energia fossile, del cemento e bellica, speculando su una crisi da esse stesse causata e scaricandone i costi economici e sociali sulla popolazione.
I governi si impegnano in conflitti bellici, che la popolazione paga in vite o, quando non direttamente interessata dal conflitto, in carovita ed instabilità economica, in una stringente morsa di violenza istituzionale che prova a zittire ed isolare chi prende posizione contro queste scelte scellerate ed assassine.
Conflitti energetici, colonialisti ed imperialisti portati avanti per grandi interessi economici, scelte che nulla hanno a che vedere con noi persone e che cadono dall’alto sulle nostre vite e sulle nostre terre, sempre più messe al servizio, attraverso l’occupazione militare e l’esproprio, per la costruzione di basi militari ed armamenti. Terre che vengono sfruttate e sottratte alla popolazione con la forza per costruirvi grandi opere per l’estrazione e il trasporto di fonti energetiche, grandi infrastrutture e poli della logistica per la circolazione di merci. Terre impoverite, inquinate, bruciate e violentemente trasformate.
Terre di un pianeta in cui il Sud del mondo sostiene la ricchezza del Nord, una ricchezza che si dimostra sempre più precaria ed appartenente a poch*.
Dopo anni di pressioni e richieste a governi e multinazionali nulla è stato fatto. Nessun paese si è effettivamente impegnato nel ridurre le emissioni di CO2 fino al loro azzeramento, anzi la tendenza globale dimostra come vi sia un accelerato disimpegno in quest’ottica. Oltreché per quanto soprascritto, si rende evidente questa direzione con la rimessa a regime delle centrali di carbone, l’aumento di investimenti in energie fossili e il disimpegno dai patti di Parigi.
L’unico finto modo che governi e lobby industriale perseguono per affrontare la crisi climatica è la strumentalizzazione dell’informazione e il greenwashing, atto a sfruttare bacini di consumator* preoccupat* per la crisi climatica, attraverso la vendita di prodotti e servizi privati apparentemente sostenibili.
La crisi climatica è una crisi sociale, economica, migratoria ed ecologica, causata da un sistema di sfruttamento feroce di terre e persone.
Se 3 anni fa pensavamo di dover agire in tempi brevi, oggi ci rendiamo conto che lo scorrere di quel tempo è esponenzialmente accelerato: la pandemia globale da Covid, l’inizio di una guerra, il riacutizzarsi di molti altri conflitti, le temperature globali con una media di +4 °C superiore alle medie stagionali, la dilagante siccità e la povertà crescente hanno impennato lo scorrere di quel tempo, del nostro tempo per agire.
E allora è ai quattro angoli di questo mondo che ci rivolgiamo e alle persone che li abitano, vicine e lontane, per allearci, iniziare un cammino congiunto, battere il nostro tempo e costruire insieme un futuro giusto, il nostro futuro.
